  1. Save and reuse PDM state variables in order to avoid long warmup

Before starting a hydraulic run, it is currently necessary to simulate long runoff-only runs in order to warm up the state variables of a PDM subcatchment, particularly soil moisture deficit. Would it be possible to impose initial state variables in order to shorten the necessary warmup simulation or avoid it entirely?

  2. Simplify the Ground Water Model

Simplify the InfoWorks Ground Water model Or GIM by using only the Ground layer instead of two layers Soil and Ground.

Don’t use the soil store component of the GIM.

Innovyze, please simplify the conceptual design of the GIM by reducing it to one layer.

  3. Allow Theming Inflow areas by attributes

I would like to visually theme the Inflow areas by an attribute, say, Percent Impervious (PIMP)

  4. Split a subcatchment

To be able to easily split a subcatchment into 2 separate subcatchments.

For example when it becomes obvious that the flow from a subcatchment cannot be collected at a pit (node), it becomes necessary to insert an additional pit (node) to capture flows. The subcatchment needs to be easily split (say with a general line) into 2 separate subcatchments with similar data other than the new areas.

  5. Drain to 2D line source from subcatchment

The current function allows rainfall runoff to be given to a node, link, multiple links and 2D point source, but not to 2D line source. We are modelling rivers with 2D meshes, but thinking to represent rainfall runoff with subcatchments, as it is more flexible. However, applying rainfall runoff to a 2D point source can mean that lots of water goes into a single mesh, which is not inappropriate in most cases. So, could you please enhance ICM so that we can drain to 2D line source?

  6. Sub catchment Ground Slope

Currently ICM isn't equipped with the tools to calculate the slope from an underlying ground model or 2D zone so this will need to be determined outside of the program. Can you include the ability for the program to calculate an average catchment slope based on the 2D mesh data or ground model within each sub catchment as an option if this has not been done outside of ICM?

  7. Incorporate ARR2019 Initial Loss & Continuing Loss (IL/CL) infilitration type for 2D Infiltration surfaces

ICM currently allows 4 infiltration types in 2D infiltration types:

    -fixed
    -Horton
    -Constinf
    -GreenAmpt

Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019 talks default initial loss and continuing loss parameters for rural catchments, values for which which can be found in the BOM data hub.

A new 2D infiltration type which allows the simple IL/CL would allow 2D modelling more inline with ARR2019.

  8. Allocate a subcatchment’s flows among several nodes

This is an idea from CDM Smith == I have an engine feature idea that has occurred to me at various times but never acted on. Today I was discussing an InfoWorks model with a junior colleague. It would clearly help us in this model to be able to allocate a subcatchment’s flows among several nodes, whether identically or according to specified proportions. In this case, we’re filling out an existing model that previously had all 10” and larger pipes in town to now include all the 8” as well, tripling the size of the model. We’re basing new subcatchments…

There is the ability to drain a subcatchment laterally to multiple links in InfoWorks ICM, would this be a close enough representation? When looking to split subcatchment flows across multiple nodes, this is usually achieved by splitting the subcatchments so there is one available for each node which is to be drained to.

  9. As a user, I would like to be able to import polygon with holes in it (donut) as subcatchments,

So that I can model situation part of the drainage area is not draining to the storm sewer system.

Have you attempted to do the import using the “Import as multi-part polygons” option on the Open Data Import Centre?

  10. RORB Hydrology Method in ICM

InfoWorks ICM currently has the RAFTS Hydrological Routing method, but as a flood modelling user, I would like access to the RORB method as an option inside ICM. It is a similar method to RAFTS and would help endorsement of the software where RORB hydrology is a requirement.

  11. WBNM Hydrology Method in ICM

Australian flood modelling user have requested access to the WBNM hydrology method inside InfoWorks ICM. WBNM is one of the endorsed methods in Australian Rainfall & Runoff and large numbers of historical studies use this method.

  13. Allow pollutographs to apply on subcatchments

At the moment it is not possible to set a pollutograph for subcatchments, and the modeller is obliged first to run the hydrology, export the hydrograph, re-import the hydrograph as inflow, and finally re-run with a pollutograph

  14. Chicago Storm Generator

As a user, I want to generate a synthetic hyetorapg (Chicago Storm) rainfall based on IDF relationship so these storms can be used in ICM.
