Partially complete a simulation and review results and then opt to continue the simulation
Simulations often take a long time to run. I would like to be able to "pause" the simulation and review the results to check that the initialisation is correct, or that an RTC is working properly, and if I am happy then continue the simulation to completion.
34 votesThe approach which we are looking to leverage here is one which deviates a little from the original request but gives the same ability to interrogate results part way through a simulation. After investigating options, the best appears to be to have a run for the total duration you are interested in, then set a state saving checkbox in the run and when you wish to interrogate simulation results stop the simulation. We will then make use of ICMLive developed concatenation of results to allow us to tie in the “continuation run” with the results which were stopped earlier. There is a lot more detail to this than I can add here, but it should meet the need.

Would like to be able to work across multiple screens - plan view on one screen and long section/grid/graph on another.

Rating curves / equations as downstream boundaries
At the moment we can use 'user control' links to act upstream of the DS boundary. These links have head/flow/power as their inputs. It would be useful to have a dedicated object that could be either a look up table of levels (rather than heads) and discharges, or an equation that would define the level / discharge relationship. Note that if an equation option were selected then it would need to be multi-part to allow for a changing relationship as water goes out of bank.

Add a modelling confidence field into the User Defined Flags
This could simply be an additional free text field in the "User Defined Flags" window labelled "confidence" OR the user is able to define their own but they are limited to 5-7 options.
The benefit is that when users pick up a model they better understand the confidence associated with each flag. Generally the "Description" field is currently seen as a "source" field. The users can then use SQLs / Ruby to build their own model confidence tools as they see fit while allowing greater transparency and functionality.

Customization of Grid Windows in InfoWorks ICM
Allow custom grid window layouts in InfoWorks ICM, much like the Property window. Allow the user to reorganize the columns, change the column widths, or hide unnecessary columns, and save it as a layout to be applied as a default.

Allow user default sorting of Master Database, and sorting of Layers and Themes properties
In InfoWorks ICM, allow the user to choose the default sorting of the Master Database and allow sorting of the Layers and Themes in Geoplan Properties and Themes.
I would like to be able to have the master database automatically/default sorted based on something else (description/ID/User/Date).
Would also like to sort the Layers & Themes dialogue, as it seems pretty random (not even alphabetical!) and often difficult to find the layer I'm looking for.

Add SWMM5 Ideal Pump to InfoWorks ICM
Does InfoWorks ICM have an equivalent to an ideal pump in SWMM which pumps whatever is entering the SPS out of the SPS?
It would be a good feature to include into infoworks as I needed to play around a bit to get it. I found I had to add line 2 or the pump kept on turning off rather than flow pacing.
I have seen a screw pump used previously to pump out what comes into the SPS but dependent upon the head discharge parameters this can back up the incoming sewer. If I set a curve similar to…

Simulation engine control update
Since the beginning of ICM and allowing to send simulation to other computers in the network, there was a need for knowing exactly who is currently sending simulations and to which computer. Please update the ICM with this improved functionality for the normal user, not for admin only. These people are the ones who send simulation to the network, not IT people!
15 votesThank you for the addition of this request, we are in discussions about how this might be achieved as the level of awareness of tasks is varied between agents. Would a dashboard showing who sent which simulation where (which are still ongoing) be sufficient? This would be without the progress those simulations have already made available as a first step.

Expanded Arithmetic Functions in the Statistics Templates for Events
"We are exploring possibilities of doing some post-processing within Infoworks. Right now, we are looking for an option that would summarize CSO volume with an offset instead of threshold; i.e. instead of ignoring anything smaller than a threshold and counting everything greater than that as a whole we want it to subtract a certain amount"

Export Flood Profile from ICM to AutoCAD Civil 3D Profile file
While exporting to AutoCAD DWG file format is ok - we used AutoCAD Civil 3D for drawing profiles. Can you just create a Profile file? or use LandXML to represent this information.
From the Autodesk Help:
About the Format Requirements of Profile FilesUse profile files to record layout data for points of vertical intersection (PVIs) in a profile.
A profile file is a simple text file in ASCII format. The file contains a series of stations along an alignment, the elevation of each station, and optionally, the length of curve at the station. Each line can include up to…

Please provide Intellisense to the SQL Editor in ICM
I want the SQL Editor to help me write SQL queries by color coding and autocompleting data, similar to Intellisence.

allow subcatchments with different RTKs to drain to the same node (Very useful for future loads and different land uses).

Adjust mesh locally without remeshing all
Adjust mesh locally without having to remesh the entire 2D zone.
26 votesWe are looking into this, but for the majority of cases it might be that there is already a significant improvement related to this with the new “Clip meshing” which was released with version 11.0 of the software, but in a prototype state, please ensure outputs are reviewed before use. The reason it provides an improvement is that it does a coarse mesh first (which is likely to remain unchanged if only small amendments are made) and follows this with a more detailed mesh after. It would be great to get any feedback you might have on your experiences with the Clip meshing and consistency of results.

Validation as a background task
Validation as a background task so UI isn't locked.
37 votesWe have spent quite a bit of time investigating how validation improvements might be achieved, whether that be through validation as a background task or whether it be with improvements on the speed of validation in the first place.
There is no silver bullet which has been identified so far, the validation is already very efficient with minimal potential for speed improvements and there are issues with it as a background task as previously mentioned which we haven’t got fully fledged solutions to yet.

Enable SQL validation rules in ICM
In InfoAsset it is possible to setup SQL rules that can then be used in validation, it would be nice to have the same in ICM.
