  1. Volume on a discharge graph with results section

When we display the graph of the discharge (flow through line) of a results section (line object), we don’t have access of the information about the volume (usually when we display a discharge graph, the volume is indicated at the bottom of the graph, but it’s not the case with a results section).
It could be interesting to have this information about the volume (especially because the results section are a tool very useful to use).

  3. Correct calculation of volume within storage node when using porosity

Currently when a porosity value is applied to a storage node, the porosity is only applied for storage array entries which are below ground level. Storage array entries above ground level are assumed to have a porosity of 100%. Between the highest storage array level value below ground and the lowest storage array level value above ground the porosity is assumed to increase linearly between the value you applied and 100%. i.e. the storage is assumed to be conical.
This should be corrected. The porosity value applied should be applied to the whole storage array both above and below ground.…

  4. Drain to 2D line source from subcatchment

The current function allows rainfall runoff to be given to a node, link, multiple links and 2D point source, but not to 2D line source. We are modelling rivers with 2D meshes, but thinking to represent rainfall runoff with subcatchments, as it is more flexible. However, applying rainfall runoff to a 2D point source can mean that lots of water goes into a single mesh, which is not inappropriate in most cases. So, could you please enhance ICM so that we can drain to 2D line source?

  5. RTC Debugging Interface and Support

It would be really useful to have a debugging module for the RTC components in InfoWorks ICM so that one can go step by step through a simulation to display in simulation RTC values-things like variable values (e.g. timers), range/logic values, active/deactivate rules and so on to make isolating RTC schemes simpler. This would be kind of like a debugging module for computer programming in languages such as VBA or C++ or perhaps another grid view. I also find that there are a lot of RTC concepts that we find our by trial and error and it would be useful…

  6. User URL for X/Y Coordinates

Currently, the User URL option for the "View Online" menu in Innovyze ICM only allows for the output of longitude and latitude coordinates. Our GIS system is built on the BNG projection and therefore uses X/Y coordinates in its URL. Can you enable X/Y coordinates to be used in the User URL generated by ICM?

  7. Validation of Bridge data

When a model is validated, it doesn't pick up on problems with bridges, that prevent the model from running. For example, the error "bed section is above soffit" is given when trying to run the model, but does not appear in the validation messages. Also, when cross section lines were changed, the validation messages do not mention you having to update the bridge (as they do with the reaches).
A better bridge validation would be very useful.

  8. Attribute table copy function

A better copy function between networks might be usefull: e.g. Also copy the 'link head discharge' or 'conduit shape geometry' tables when copying a link from one network to an other. Or at least a popup allowing you to select which lists to copy or not.

  9. Apply rain gauge boundaries to multiple rainfall events

I would like to load rain gauge boundaries to multiple rainfall events at once. I have had to import rainfall profiles from .csv files and I have lots of durations and return periods. Saving the rain gauge boundaries to each file is time consuming. Having a batch tool where the appropriate rainfall events are loaded at the same time would speed up this process in the future.

Thanks for this request, for application to 1D networks the profile for subcatchments could be used but if the rainfall needs to be applied to a 2D zone as well where spatial distribution is required then in that instance this wouldn’t work I guess so I see the need here.

  10. Application of design storms in ICMLive

We'd like to be able to predefine some design storms in ICMLive (note that this is NOT the same as design rainfall in ICM). The idea is that we'd have these storms that could be optionally applied by operators to see the likely effect of a rainfall event. Essentially we are looking for the same functionality that existed in FloodWorks.

  11. Increased number of user pollutants

We would like to be able to trace pollutant sources through our 2D model. The way to do this would be to use the user defined pollutants . But... at the moment there are only four pollutants and potentially we'd have many different sources that we'd like to track. Can the number of user pollutants be increased? We can't give a number that this would need to be increased but it could be several hundred.

Thanks for this, I assume that as long as the end goal of being able to trace a significant number of sources through the 2D is met this would be sufficient? As in it is not actually pollutants you wish to be able to trace but rather the source of flows?

  12. Structure flow mode reported in the results

Sometimes when evaluating results at structures we see strange results that require investigation; invariably we find out that this is because the flow mode has changed. (e.g. from free to drowned). It would be very helpful if the ICM results were able to report the flow mode as a time-varying output. This would result in a lot of time saving when investigating models. For reference I am referring to the Flow Mode functionality that is available in InfoWorks RS and Flood Modeller Pro.

  13. Update user defined vortex controls in ICM so hydrobrake head discharge curves can be modelled

Current user defined vortex controls don't accept head discharge curves where the discharge reduces for increasing head i.e. what happens in a hydrobrake. It would be useful to get this updated to ensure consistency between ICM and drainage design.

  14. Drag and drop ruby

The ability to drag and drop ruby scripts from the file system into the ICM window in order to execute them.

This will not only be useful for day to day use of using ruby scripts but will also be useful for 3rd party (and open source) applications like InfoLab

    https://github.com/sancarn/InfoLab

Currently in order to inject ruby scripts into the UI we have to use open up Network tab and execute the "Run Ruby Script" button's default action. Creating a drop event onto ICM would be significantly easier and is extremely easy to implement (a few hours)

  15. WBNM Hydrology Method in ICM

Australian flood modelling user have requested access to the WBNM hydrology method inside InfoWorks ICM. WBNM is one of the endorsed methods in Australian Rainfall & Runoff and large numbers of historical studies use this method.

  16. Merge more than two polygon in one go

Merging polygons representing for instance mesh zones can help reducing the number of triangles, particularly small ones, and reduce simulation time. The version of ICM I am using can only merge two polygons at the time. I currently do the polygon merge as part of my data pre-processing before importing the data into ICM as I can merge more than two polygons at the time. However, it would be useful to be able merge several polygons in one go in ICM.

  17. Include groundlevel as attribute in export network 2D mesh elements

When you export a model to shape for example, only the element id is included. You have to run a simulation (for a second) and then exporting maximum reveales the element ground level. It saves time to add the mesh element level to the export. Although easy to add in GIS, the element area is also a handy attribute

  18. Tile only for selected windows

Choose which Windows are used for Tile Horizontally or Tile Vertically. If a Geoplan and two Long Sections are open, we want to tile only the Long Sections, so a selection for the tiling would be useful.

  19. Ground model inference rememebered

When object entries are updated from ground model, it would be good if the previously used settings could be remembered the next time the dialog is triggered.

  20. Modelling of mud and other non-Newtonian flows

We've a lot of work at the moment modelling the failure of tailings dams. Tailings dams typically have material that acts in a non-Newtonian manner. To effectively model these sorts of fluids would require the inclusion of additional fluid properties. The Bingham method (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bingham_plastic) has been successfully applied in other applications.
