  1. Re-order objects

Can it be possible to re-order objects within an InfoWorks ICM model Group. As objects can get added or superseded over time. So to aid model audits and ease of use, it would be really beneficial to have an option to re-order. Thanks

  2. Un-ticking All Objects under ICM Properties and Themes

The "Properties and Themes" provides the option to Display certain model Object Layers (i.e. Node, Conduit, 2D Zone, etc.). It is a very long list of about 50 layers.

It would be helpful if there is an option to Tick (or Un-Tick) all layers at once.

  5. Include a Rainfall Generator Using Environment Canada Data

Similar to the ARR and NOAA 14 storm generators, build one that could utilize Environment Canada data with common distribution types.

  6. Allow all objects (nodes, subcatchments etc) to be included within the ‘gauge’ objects used in the run window

In a simulation run window the user has the choice to use a selection list of 'gauged' objects. This is useful so as to provide the results of some objects more frequently, or to only save the results from some objects and not others, in order to keep simulation data sizes down. Currently only links can be 'gauged' objects. It would be beneficial to allow all objects to be 'gauged' as currently to save the results for 1 node requires saving all objects in the model.

(In addition, the 2D Zone is by far the most data hungry object, so…

  7. Change coordinate system of a model more easily

We have a large project running for several years and our design team is working in one coordinate frame. Our clients models are all in another coordinate frame. Our team would like to reproject the models into the design coordinate frame but there is no easy way of doing this. Currently, we are exporting the models to TAB files (table by table) and importing them again after changing the coordinate system. This is time consuming and introduces a lot of potential for human error. There is also no way to (I know of) to maintain all the scenarios so we…

  8. Show water levels at Bridge Linear Structures

We would like to see the water levels at the bridge linear structures as it is important for us to be able to see the water levels with respect to the bridge openings and decks.

  9. Storage area polygons

Storage nodes often represent detention basins or other locations with large areas. Pipes enter/leave from opposite sides. With the standard link/node configuration, one or more link will be mis-configured compared to the actual location.

I have long wanted to have a storage area polygon, with links connecting to the nearest edge, rather than the center.

Great ideas!  The goal is the simplify the physical location to either measured (as-built) or designed locations of pond outfalls, while either logically enforcing the relationship of outfalls to pond/outlet without forced links that do not represent physical pipes.

  10. Add node level (hydraulic grade line) data to custom graphs for calibration

Allow for the ability to compare observed and predicted level data (or hydraulic grade lines) at nodes. Instead of depth in the pipe, I typically have water surface elevations at a node, specifically for treatment plant hydraulic modeling.

  11. Only update interpreted points on Bank Line when updating from Ground Model

When updating bank lines from ground model it would be useful to have an option was available to only update the interpreted points, therefore retaining vertices heights from cross sections and surveyed points. Or an option to easily delete the interpreted points, so they can be updated.

  12. RORB Hydrology Method in ICM

InfoWorks ICM currently has the RAFTS Hydrological Routing method, but as a flood modelling user, I would like access to the RORB method as an option inside ICM. It is a similar method to RAFTS and would help endorsement of the software where RORB hydrology is a requirement.

  13. Auto populate an incremental ID for objects such as lines/polygons/subcatchments etc.

Often source data is provided with a non unique ID.

Nodes auto generate an ID, and conduits will create a node, but the remaining asset classes struggle somewhat and often you need to manipulate the GIS data.

I would like to be able to have ICM (and WS Pro for that matter) auto populate a unique ID (such as row ID).

There used to be a blog post written with a Ruby script to do this, but it appears to have been removed from the website. Alternately post the Ruby scripts again somewhere.
    Thanks,
    Ann

  14. A Mesh Layer export function to facilitate the analysis and visualization of temporal mesh element results in QGIS.

I would like to see a Mesh Layer export function that would facilitate the analysis and visualization of temporal mesh element results in QGIS.

    Use case example: https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/visualchangelog312/index.html#feature-vector-trace-animation-and-streamlines-for-mesh-layer

  15. Dissolve river reaches into multiple river reaches

It would be great to have the capability to generate automatically and perfectly snapped nodes in all/some of the X-sections of one/multiple river reaches in ICM and therefore split that river reach into various river reaches (kind of the opposite tool of the river reach merging tool). The two main applications for this are 1) If you need to connect a pipe to a river reach and you need to add a new node that will interpolate a new X-section somewhere and will cause the river reach polygon to be outdated, so you need to generate it again... it is…

  16. Transfer roughness values after cross section extension

When a cross section is extended, the roughness values are not populated automatically when it is probably valid in a significant number of cases to carry forward the existing roughnesses of the cross section end points.

  17. The ability to save databases/models as previous versions for backwards compatibility

A few of our clients use different versions of InfoWorks for various reasons (some are resistant to upgrading until they've had a chance to vet the new versions and understand the changes in house). This can create a problem where we must maintain and build using multiple versions of the software and multiple databases for different versions to serve different clients.

I would like the ability to save a database/transportable database for compatibility of previous versions. Similar to what we have with AutoCAD, where you can work in the latest version, but choose which version to save it in. Currently…

  18. Add SWMM5 Ideal Pump to InfoWorks ICM

Does InfoWorks ICM have an equivalent to an ideal pump in SWMM which pumps whatever is entering the SPS out of the SPS?

It would be a good feature to include into infoworks as I needed to play around a bit to get it. I found I had to add line 2 or the pump kept on turning off rather than flow pacing.

I have seen a screw pump used previously to pump out what comes into the SPS but dependent upon the head discharge parameters this can back up the incoming sewer. If I set a curve similar to…

  19. Pause simulations during server restarts

Please could we have an ability to pause simulations whilst an InfoWorks ICM server is restarted?
As part of the wider drive to reduce CSO spills there is an increasing need to run long time series through sewer models. This can require models to simulate for multiple weeks; this isn't compatible with automatic updating on servers, which restarts them to apply updates, which causes any active simulation to fail.
Microsoft Azure for example has a monthly patching cycle and sometimes more frequent for ad-hoc critical security updates. With simulations running for multiple weeks and more InfoWorks users moving to cloud…

  20. section view of ground model and 2d mesh

It would be very usefull to be able to generate a section view of both a ground model and a generated 2d mesh. At the moment this is only possible in a flood section after a simulation.

So it should be not too difficult to move this possibility also to a network before simulating.
